Join Stormfire Productions cast and crew for the premiere of the first episode of a new fantasy audio drama about twins on the border reconnecting with their indigenous roots and their family’s forgotten history.

Date: Saturday, February 24, 2024

Time: 6PM-8PM

Location: Alexandria History Museum at the Lyceum

Address: 201 S Washington St, Alexandria, VA

Series Summary: Andrea and Mateo Ortiz are their grandfather’s pride and joy, but they can’t help but cause each other trouble. After a face-to-face with an ancient pitáo (an ancient god) who has forgotten his name, the twins are sent on an adventure through the Underworld and face restless spirits, as well as their long lost parents. This series is targeted for ages 8 and up!

Wait…what is audio drama, and does that mean the premiere is only in audio? Audio drama is not like your usual interview or documentary podcasts. It is also not like an audiobook either, with a narrator and very little sound design. It has its roots in traditional radio plays, with a full cast of voice actors and immersive sound design. Imagine it as television for your ears! In fact, this special premiere will be in a video format, with visual elements and captions in both English and Spanish. The runtime is 25 minutes, and will be accompanied by a Q&A with the director, writer, and sound designer.

The event will also include a silent auction, offering a variety of packages and items from Mexican and Mexican-American artists, businesses, and artisans. Additional entertainment and details to be announced closer to the event date.

95% of all ticket and auction proceeds will go towards the funding of the full 12-episode series run, which includes paying voice actors, the writer, and the sound designer.

5% of ticket and auction sales will be donated to Tenants and Workers United, a nonprofit and advocacy group organizing low-income communities of color in Northern Virginia.

Food and Drink: Tickets cover all food and drink during the event. We are thrilled to offer catering from CDMX chefs from local restaurant Taqueria Picoso. Drinks include water, soda, wine, and beer. (I.D. for alcoholic beverages will be required)

Dress Code: Casual but creative! Feel free to express yourself and be comfortable.

Silent Auction Donations: If you would like to donate an item to the silent auction, please contact our team at info@stormfireproductions.com. Donors will receive a discount code for the event!

Getting There:

Public Transit: The closest Metro station is King Street on the Yellow/Blue lines. The (free) King Street Trolley runs every 15 minutes from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and the closest hop-off spot to the Lyceum is S. Washington St.

Parking: The parking lot at the museum is small and street parking is extremely limited in Old Town Alexandria. All guests arriving by car are encouraged to use street parking and/or nearby parking garages.

The event will take place on the second floor of the Lyceum. While there is an elevator on-site, it may be under construction during the event. Please let us know if you have any mobility concerns.
